The World Wildlife Fund (WWF), which has been operating in more than 100 countries for half a century, launched the "Green Office - Green Transformation Program" in Türkiye through WWF-Türkiye to reduce the ecological footprint of office environments. Having first earned the "Green Office - Green Transformation" diploma last year, PASHA Bank has once again met the program’s green office criteria this year, maintaining its commitment to reducing its ecological footprint.

According to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, up to 40% of the planet's land is degraded, directly affecting half of the world’s population. One of the main causes is climate change, which exacerbates drought, and this issue is directly linked to human activities. Globally, more than 2 billion tons of municipal solid waste are generated each year, with almost half of it not being managed safely. Offices are among the highest consumers of plastic packaging, single-use products, and paper. An average office worker generates around 1 kg of waste daily, including paper, plastic, and food waste. To promote sustainability in office environments, WWF-Türkiye launched the "Green Office - Green Transformation Program", taking a significant step toward reducing the ecological footprint. PASHA Bank, which joined the program last year, aims to raise environmental awareness among institutions and employees, encouraging a sense of environmental responsibility both in professional and personal life. By successfully completing 69 action steps under three key objectives—awareness, office sustainability, and waste management—PASHA Bank had already earned the "Green Office - Green Transformation" diploma last year, contributing to the reduction of its ecological footprint. This year, just as in the previous year, PASHA Bank successfully completed the program once again and was awarded the "Green Office - Green Transformation" diploma for a second time.

Continuing Sustainability Efforts

PASHA Bank Deputy General Manager A. Hale Yıldırım emphasized that the bank's priority has always been to raise environmental awareness among its employees and society, stating:

"In 2024, we experienced our second green year. Raising awareness remained our primary goal this year. For PASHA Bank, creating awareness is not just about our office—it is about our nature, environment, and future. This is one of our most important priorities. In line with our sustainability goals, our second commitment was to reduce electricity consumption. We successfully achieved our target by reducing office electricity consumption by 5%. Additionally, we took another significant step by obtaining the International Renewable Energy Certificate (I-REC). This certificate verifies that the electricity we use is sourced from renewable energy, demonstrating our commitment to environmental sustainability and the concrete steps we are taking in this area.

At PASHA Bank, we constantly highlight our determination to reduce our environmental impact and contribute to a greener world. We always embrace a business model and roadmap that considers both environmental and social impacts."
